** Update ** - Version 8.12.2 has been released this morning (Jan 29) which will hopefully make the original purpose of this post irrelevant. See “Plex For Android” in the Announcements section of the forums.
You know about the big playback problems with the 8.,12 versions and it appears that you have stopped them from going onto the stores. Why are the 8.12 versions left in the announcements section for unsuspecting users to download and install?
Just pointing out that 8.12.0 also had the playback problems. I had to return to 8.11 in order to resume normal use of the app. It seems that you know that too, given 8.11 is the version in the stores.
Yes, I reported the problem for 8.12.0 very soon after it went on the site. But it’s pretty hard to get people’s attention. This is why I said 8.12 “versions” in my original post above. I’m very unhappy with Plex’s disorganization, lack of quality control and lack of a remotely sensible process for reporting bugs. As a retired senior software designer/product manager, I have big problems with what is going on at plex.
I think the 8.12.0 problems are mainly evident when when connected via hdmi to tv/receiver that supports 5.1 sound when playing 5.1 content. When playing on or to stereo devices, it seemed to work ok.
I think we might be talking about different announcement pages. I’m talking about the main Plex For Android announcement page, not the beta one.
I already feel like a beta tester using the production version of Android. Definitely not looking to use an even more beta version. The android app has been a bit of an abomination for almost 2 years.
