Replace Intel/Linux server with new Mac mini

I have a Plex running on Intel/Centos on an old Xeon setup.

It runs quite well, but due to Centos not beeing updated anymore I am considering switching it out to something energy efficient . I know Macs very well so I am thinking I can replace the whole setup (raid hard drives etc) with a Mac Mini with a large USB hard drive (Backed up to dropbox).

Anyone done this?

I used a Mac Mini for this more than 10 years ago, but it was not very stable at the time.

I have used Mac’s for over 10 years with plex. Currently using a M1 Mini with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM. Hasn’t missed a beat. Low power consumption. Transcodes multiple 4k streams if needed. Before the M1 I used a Second hand 2012 Mini with a 256GB user (me) replaced SSD and 16GB RAM. Totally stable. Could not do transcodes of 4K streams at all.
