As with other films with incorrect release dates, these are mostly cases where Plex incorrectly glommed onto some obviously incorrect film festival date instead of the actual date. For example, Chess of the Wind released in 1976, but got a restoration film festival debut in Australia in 2021. With all due respect, who cares about when an Iranian film first screened in Australia?
I have already corrected all of these – as well as over 500 other films that have incorrect release dates – in my library, but I just wanted to report these so everyone is aware of the deficiencies of the metadata Plex is providing and Plex can fix them. This kind of thing is extremely frustrating because I think a lot of your paying users really care about films and really want correct metadata.
I would be happy to supply the 500 films I have with <5 year errors but errors nonetheless, but I think I would want to see action on some of the existing metadata reports I’ve issued.
