Yes, the "&" allows you to close the Terminal app/window after you have executed the command (Ankur, you just copy/paste my command into a Terminal and press enter). But you still have to do it again (and again and ...) if you reboot.
If you want to have it done automatically across reboots (and to have the process is kept alive, i.e. restarted if it (not likely) dies) and don't want to use the Lingon.app (available in the App Store, as described in the article, I linked to above), you can put the below code in a plist file (plain text file with a .plist extension) in this folder:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/
name the file:
org.pmsbonjour.org.plist (filename isnot that important)
Remember to change the port number (here 32400, which will always work, I guess) to suit your custom setup, if you have one...
Logout and in again, and now you should see a dns-sd process in Activity Monitor.
I am not totally sure if this will be universally beneficial, but at least in a pure Apple environment like my own with Apple TVs, AirPort routers and/or Time Capsules, dns-sd will advertise the Bonjour service when the particular Mac is awake and when the Mac goes to sleep, it will register the Bonjour service with a sleep proxy in the router and the AppleTV. For this to work remotely, though, I think you need to open some port manually in the router and specify a custom port for the PMS server to listen to, but that is another story.
This may be a bit too detailed and in the end it would be a lot smarter if PMS could do all this, just like it used to... :)
