Request to remove {\an8} on Roku & other players where it's not supported

If the subtitle format is SRT and it has {\an8} on it (or other ASS tags), the plex player should, at the very least, just omit/hide that tag.

Emby and Jellyfin, in particular, have begun addressing this problem. Perhaps Plex could do the same? Remove ssa/ass tags from text subtitles by thornbill · Pull Request #4658 · jellyfin/jellyfin-web · GitHub

Note: Plex web does not have this problem, it reads ASS tags normally and applies them, whether the subtitle is ASS or SRT format.

Any plans on fixing this problem? Many videos are using {\an8} for SRT even tho it’s not supported. So I’m seeing this problem more and more.

Support for .ASS subtitle positioning codes (e.g. \an8, \a8, etc.) for .SRT subtitles

(This is for all clients) Most of the online subtitle services are now prolifically supplying .SRT subtitle files using .ASS positioning tags (e.g \an8, \a8 to position text on top of screen). While these are not technically part of the .SRT spec, MANY common players (VLC, SMplayer, etc) support them in .SRT files. I agree. Especially because Plex behavior about subtitles is not consistent among different platforms players.
