Hi Plex team, I’m requesting a new option in the PlexAmp library select menu for “All Libraries”.
Current Behavior:
- Open plexamp. Library 1 is selected.
- I want to hear music from Library 2.
- Open settings,
- Press source,
- Select new source
- Back out twice
- Press search again to see the other library.
Issues with the current state:
- I cannot play music from more than one library at a time.
- My playlists that have items from more than one library are incomplete when using plexamp player.
- Features (I love) like Favorite tracks / favorite albums are only partially true because my music listening is split between libraries.
- Library switching is distracting and is not easy to do while in a car (4 button presses, and one step requires you to read the screen closely to make sure you’re selecting the right library)
Ideal Behavior:
- I can play music from all my libraries without switching between them manually.
- My multi-library playlists are contiguous (just like the plex webapp),
- My favorite tracks, artists, albums are accurate
- I’m relieved of having to go 2 menus deep to change libraries
Final thoughts:
- The default scoping of per-library is different from the expectations that the Plex app sets. The search in Plex webapp searches all sources.
- I have a FLAC and a non-FLAC library, and even having two music libraries makes Plexamp hard to be viable for my uses.
- I use plexamp because the regular plex app in my car plays two tracks at the same time (One at lower volume) so my only option is PlexAmp, but the library switching gives me a lot of friction, so now I find both options to be a little subpar and I’m reaching out for an attempt to improve PlexAmp to a level where I can enjoy it…
