Resolution or bitrate exceeds maximum allowed

Server Version#: 1.12.2.4964
Player Version#: 7.17.2.11085

I get Resolution or bitrate exceeds maximum allowed when trying to stream to my Note 8 from out of network.

I have my server on a WD mycloud home 4tb. I have fiber internet with well over 100mb upload.

Internet Streaming

Video quality Maximum

Set the default quality for streaming video over the internet. If quality is set too high, videos will start slowly and pause frequently.

If I load the video from my cloud and play the video using mk player then there is no lag. This makes me believe its the transcoding causing the lag.

Any thoughts?

Check your Remote Access settings.

You’ll need to recreate theissue and provide the log from the app to be sure.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-03_23-50-16.zip (435.3 KB)

here are my logs. I do not know enough to be able to read them. I just don’t understand why it is transcoding.

It should be the latest. I started the stream about 1 minute before accessing the logs.

Your logs say that your Android device was using a cellular connection. In the app, there is an additional setting to limit the data when using cellular. I think you have that enabled.

You are currently my favorite person. That was exactly it. I didn’t realize I had to set the setting on both the phone and the server. It now works perfectly. It now says direct play.

Not sure if there is a way to close the forum or leave it up for the 3 months so others with the issue know the solution.
