I am running Plex server from a Nvidia Shield, playing files from a directly attached USB drive. Anything I play looks like a low quality YouTube video, with artifacts and picture breakup constantly. The files are all 1080P HEVC/x264. When I check the information panel whilst playing a file, it says ‘Resolution or bitrate exceeds maximum allowed’ , with hardware transcoding. The file I am looking at now is showing a resolution of 718 x 388.
Under Settings > Video Quality > Home Streaming, I have it set to Maximum. For internet access my Shield is tethered to my mobile phone, but as these files are all local I am stumped as to why this is happening. Any suggestions?
