This is a followup from an earlier post about backing up Plex to my Synology NAS. That post can be found here.
I now need to restore Plex (I wiped it as I kept getting an error during playback, and I may need to ask the community about that if this doesn’t work…)
When I restored Plex from my Synology backup (after quiting Plex, and then removing Plex), I get this response:
Note: even though I selected an April restore, my latest backup of 6/1 kept getting restored. The first image above (with the “other videos") is what I created last night doing a fresh install before any restoring, so I’m not certain that the restore is even done correctly- although it is from the Synology perspective.
Thoughts on what I need to do to get a successful Plex restore?
Pinging @FordGuy61 and @ChuckPa who were really helpful on the Plex backup
That ‘503 - Maintenance’ is PMS upgrading the database from the schema it found from the backup to current schema.
This happens every time the database version and the software version differ.
It’s normal to see this.
All you need to do is wait it out .
Hyperbackup makes a perfect restore of all the DATA (metadata and databases).
Just waiting for the database to catch up with the version of PMS currently installed is just a matter of time. ( a few minutes on some machines – dependent on machine and DB size )
It worked! It took a bit of time, but after I was able to load Plex, my files were back. Further, the underlying problem of my videos stalling midstream is now resolved.
