Restoring Plex on a fresh install of Ubuntu with a new computer name, cannot connect to restored DB

How long?

If a long time, then fix this first. Doing this gets you back in control.

Plex Online Token was “”, the rest had values.

After doing the above, in the Incognito window, the “Claim Server” button pushes me through a sign-in process, but when it returns me to Plex, it still shows the unclaimed server warning and the “Claim Server” button is there. I’ve gone through the button/login loop three times.

Hang on, I’ve just tried again and it’s saying “There was an error signing in” in the sign-in notice. If I press “Sign In” (the orange button) it then reports success and redirects me back to Plex… where I am not signed in.

Grab the logs (tar.gz) Manually and attach please.

(after 45 minutes of uploading, the forum logged me out at 99% of the upload – now putting it in Google Drive)

WHOA!

What are you trying to upload?
Logs should be about 5-10 MB in a tar.gz

I don’t want the entire “Plex Media Server” directory,
Only need the Logs directory underneath it.

20 MB – I have no idea what’s grinding the gears with upload speed.

something on your end. I’ve had others upload today without issue.

For whatever reason, upload is real slow at my house today. I wound up having to put it on Drive:

It’s still going at the scanning and has even crashed a few times (restarted).

It’s going through what looks like a mammoth library of music ?

Yes, it is a mammoth library of music. Do I need the scan to complete before I claim the server?

The only problem I have now is that I cannot claim the server.

Edit: No, wait, all movie and TV files that I try to play return “Error s4032 (Manifest)” and won’t play.

Candidly, should I just nuke the old database and let Plex build a new one? This seems like it’s more trouble than its worth.

it’s busy. I see it doing so much. let it get to idle state.
Normally this isn’t an issue but there is so much happening right now.
It’s overloaded.

If you want to nuke it, that’s your decision.

Make certain you delete the old server name from app.plex.tv - authorized devices too in the process else the claiming thing will persist

Well, I’ll be jiggered. Full power down for 10 minutes, start the whole thing up again, and it signs into Plex, registers the server, starts playing movies. Maybe it could see I was going to kill it…

Threats are often sensed by computers.

So – yes! I might come back later, but for now all looks good! Thank you for your help (and patience) @ChuckPa
