so i had a backup server that i had migrated a database to and it was causing nothing but issues, it worked fine but plex seemed to get confused as to which server was which and was meshing the two together some, it would also never back up.
getting sick and tired of it i stripped plex from the backup server (registry key plex inc and folder in appdata local too) i went in and removed the old server from the authorized devices.
I then renamed the computer as the name “plex” isnt really valid for this computer as it is doing more now, plus i was sick of not being able to distinguish it from plex online stuff. long story short i was just Fn tired of the mess.
Main server works just fine but trying to setup a new server on a stripped renamed machine is not possible now, no local ip web address or “auto initialize” function is working, it will say initializing, get stuck and then when i go back i am “unauthorized”. i only have and ever only have one plex account, im pretty savvy, i even went to the /claim address and am given some token that i cannot use anywhere. the failed attempt of starting a new server puts the plex server name in authorized devices and i see it there.
The main server has not been effected and still works fine
this is stupid, i need a way around this and plex needs to come up with a better security solution that does NOT break their installer routine!
