My plex machine isnt capable of handling multiple transcodes and has no expansion options for adding hardware transcoding.
Of the people I have on there, none of them actually need to transcode on their TVs/consoles, their devices are capable and they arent subject to transfer limits but their players are configured to do it anyway by default. This issue is even worse when you have media thats x265 and it ends up getting transcoded to something that litterally eats more bandwidth and gives them lower quality than their TV is capable of.
Id like to restrict transcoding to mobile devices only so that I dont have someone transcoding on their TV then another person on a phone unable to play because the server cant handle another transcode. Just disabling transcoding entirely wouldnt achieve this. Mobile users are far more likely to have data plan limits.
Id like to make it so that when someone on a full fat device tries to play the server doesnt even offer them transcoded streams.
