I searched the forums but couldn't find any info on this, but is it possible to restrict certain users access to plexweb on my server?
Because if some users decide to use plexweb for streaming my media the CPU usage goes to 100% and other users may experience bad performance or even cannot play any media.
If it isn't possible maybe it can be a new feature, thats why i posted it here.
To clarify, do you mean you want to block users that you have shared your server with from using plex web to watch media? If so, that isn't possible as you can't restrict which clients shared users can use.
The CPU usage is likely due to the media they're playing requiring transcoding. This could be for many reasons (they don't have a fast enough download speed, your server doesn't have a fast enough upload speed, they enabled subtitles, etc), but in almost all of those scenarios transcoding would be required on whichever client they used. You could ask them to use Plex Home Theater, as that client has support for playing subtitles without transcoding.
Yes thats wat i want to setup, i understand but it would be Nice if it was possible, and i think all the users are using subtitles so i understand why transcoding is needed.

If you're using external srt subtitle files, very few clients need to transcode to add them. Most of the time Plex just passes the files off to the client, and the client adds them during playback. I use subtitles for everything I watch, and none of my clients ever transcode for it, other than Plex/Web, which I only ever use to test with. I never use it to actually watch something. But my multiple Roku's, and various Android and Fire TV devices never transcode anything due to using a subtitle.
Just voted on this request. Expanding the request a little I would like to see the ability to restrict different types of clients. Eg all Chrome or all Safari or all Apple TV etc. The objective is to manage the amount of transcoding that happens on the server. I know we can tune the transcoding so that it doesn't hog the CPU but I want the ability to force users to install a native client like Windows or OS X PHT otherwise they can't access my library.

I agree. I personally see that there is very little difference between transcoding for Web-clients and Plex clients in terms of CPU-load. If your CPU can't handle weblients, you probably should use a heavier CPU or make sure you only stream and don't transcode (i.e. use Plex Home Theater and a huge pipe to PMS).

All the media on my server is of x264 720P minimal, all the movies are 1080P
The download speed of the clients (2 that i know of (my brothers) are 200Mbit Maximum) my server has a 500/500Mbit internet connection (well i have a fiber line with 500/500mbit, so the server can use all of this). Almost all the movies are playing with subtitles (external .sub files). So that could be the reason.
