Resume live tv recording from last watched position

I just recently made the switch from YouTube TV to Plex DVR with an antenna. One of the major features I miss is being able to watch a program as it is recording, pause it for a bit, maybe switch devices, then resume from my last watched position before it finishes airing. Any thoughts on the likely hood of this feature being added anytime soon?

You can do it in Plex as long as you don’t use the Plex DVR. Record with another DVR into a Plex Library folder. On Windows, NextPVR is a great choice for recording - and it’s free. Plex will think that the live recording is just another recording and you can stop it and resume like any other recording.

The one downside is that the Plex player will think the length of the video is what it was when you started playing. So you can get to the “end” when you’re not really at the end. I just got in the habit of stopping/restarting playback at the beginning of every commercial to refresh “the end”.

For me, with all the problems with Plex LIve/DVR, this was the only way I ever was able to get a decent timeshifting experience. And you don’t need to give Plex a dime to do it since you don’t need the Plex Pass for that.

It’s really sad when Plex’s paid DVR is so bad that you’re better off using someone else’s free DVR.
