Hi, I’ve been a Plex Pass holder for years, and we’ve finally cancelled our cable TV and become cord cutters. I’ve got an HdHomerun dual tuner providing channels, and the recording / playback functions work correctly.
The problem is, with the cable box we used to program something to record, then start watching half an hour in and fast forward ads and boring bits until we catch up with the live broadcast. With Plex, this doesn’t seem possible?? The recording doesn’t show in a library until it’s stopped and done the post processing, and going into the program that’s recording in the guide allows me to pause / play from that point onwards only.
Obviously I can turn on the TV, select channel and hit pause but we liked the convenience of just setting the program up to record and starting from the beginning during the record.
Am I missing something, or is this just not possible on Plex?
Processing for ads doesn’t happen until after the recording is finished, IIRC.
I have no problem here going into the EPG to begin watching a channel while it’s recording, and starting from the beginning. Pause, fast forward, and rewind all work. The only real restriction is that if you have extra time configured (say, for a sports event,) once the regular time has expired, you can’t begin watching the recording until all time has completed.
OK thanks - me being silly! Not sure how I was trying to do this, but as you say, going into the item in the guide that is recording you get the option of start from the beginning.
