This isnt just happening in Plex Web. It is happening in all of the clients I have tried.
I dont recall this happening until recently.
I have a show in a TV Library for 1080p TV Shows.
I have the same show in a different TV Library for 4k TV Shows.
I start watching an episode in my 1080p library on my phone over wifi. I stop watching. I come back, and ‘Continue Watching’ has both the 1080p and 4k episodes marked as in progress and no clear way to see which is which without going into the episode and looking at the details.
Not the way I would expect. If i wanted them all bundled up together I would have put the shows in a ‘Plex Versions’ folder inside the original library like plex optimize does. I put them in different libraries to specifically seperate them out.
I posted a bug maybe 18 months ago, regarding DVR shows in one library getting mixed up with tv shows in a different library. As much as I think both of these things are bugs and probably related, it seems you are right as far as what Plex thinks. Screw libraries, if we find 2 shows we think are the same anywhere in the plex instance we are going to pretend libraries dont exist.
So we need multiple plex installs to actually break this stuff apart.
