This is probably a silly question, but my old laptop (unsuprisingly, really, it’s on me that I didn’t properly back up the files) just crashed, taking with it about one fourth of the files on the server (had the rest stored on external hard-drives). Now I’m wondering if there’s any way to get a hold of some kinda list of the files previously hosted on the server, just to get an idea of specifically what was lost. Does plex keep any library information whatsoever outside of what’s on the server?
Information about your own media is stored only on the server, specifically in the primary Plex database file. https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
If you cannot read the hard drive anymore, this data is lost.
I suspected as much, but thanks for confirming!
