Revisiting a problem involving plexamp and windows 10

perhaps there is a solution I have not found, help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to run plexamp on the same physical machine as the server- without internet.

I am currently using a fresh windows 10 install on a Celeron mini pc. Everything works with the network plugged in, when I unplug the network, music is only available through the server app. I have a lifetime plex pass, how do I make it work?

p.s. the server is in my vehicle, thus wanting it to work without internet. I might be able to connect monthly or something, but I would prefer not at all.

IIRC Plexamp depends on some level of internet connectivity to get things going. Media should still stream locally if you have your car network set up properly. The only exception might be playback of media you downloaded to the Plexamp client ahead of time.

As for the server, there’s certain means to optimize your setup to reduce / minimize the impact of losing internet connectivity. Though at some point the server and apps need to authenticate your account (e.g. incl. Plex Pass status which is required to use Plexamp). From what I’ve seen, there’s no way to run a Plex setup that’s entirely offline all the time without running into issues sooner or later.

thank you for your response! I am truly grateful. following up:

“media should still stream locally” is there anyway in which this includes sonic adventure or track level radio? These features have been life-changing. I have nearly 9,000 CD rips. I listen to music to make grinding through work tolerable- I am discovering new music I have owned for decades and didnt know about, daily.

“if you have your car network setup properly” that is the point- I dont want a network (if I dont need one). fewer things to break. This is all a single device with a 7" touch screen/bluetooth audio out that runs on 12v.

“Plexamp depends on some level of internet connectivity to get things going” ok, but why?

If I have a lifetime plexpass and if everything happens locally, what is lost by not having internet? is it just a “no one thought of it” bug? can it be fixed?

Not a bug but specifically how Plex is designed to work.

There’s threads of people who use Plex on boats, RVs, in cabins or as in-car entertainment system. You’ll still need some minimum form of local network where the client/server parts can see each other as part of that same local network (even if they’re running on the same device; iirc simply giving that device an internet access by adding an LTE dongle won’t be sufficient)
