Hi
I have a disc which has episodes that cross over a series.
IE it has episode 3 from series 1 and episode 1 from series 2 on the same disc.
Normally if it was all the same series it would be named something like XXX s02 e01-e03
Can someone advise how I name the file so plex recognises both episodes and series from that one file
Thanks
David
You will need to identify which season and episode number each episode corresponds to. Plex will read the file name and look it up on https://www.thetvdb.com E.g. naming…
All Creatures Great and Small - S01E01
All Creatures Great and Small - S01E02
All Creatures Great and Small - S01E03
etc…

Thanks for quick reply
Probably haven’t explained myself very well
Each disc has 2 episodes on it and rips as 1 file. First disc reads fine and is named Inspector Morse s1e01-e02. Plex sees both episodes.
Second disc has episode 3 from series 1 and episode 1 from series 2 on it, again as 1 file
Tried naming it Inspector Morse s01e03-s02e01 but plex doesn’t recognise the file
Any ideas ?
Thanks again
David
Ah, the continuous file - can be annoying. I am not aware of a naming process for Plex to recognise in your particular instance. Can the software you use allow you to set breaks so that you may create individual episodes?
Thanks again for quick reply.
There is a trim button, but with 3 episodes in the first series and 2 episodes on every disc, nearly every other disc will have to be “trimmed”
With 17 discs, it’s looking like a long afternoon lol
Thanks again
David.
Out of interest, which file format are you using?
Using DVDFab to rip to MKV. Was originally renaming them to AVI before I found Plex as all the smart Samsung tv’s could only read AVI files using the source button to connect to the NAS Drive
It was after finding out that that way would only see about 20 files on the drive that I “found” Plex and all its benefits.
