RN212 Plex server wont run and wont unisatll

Server Version#: 1.16.1.1273
Player Version#:

After a UPS failure, plex could no longer find the server. I cannot get it to start- it gets 22002010000 error that I found solutions for online that involve SSH and all sorts of nonsense I’m not qualified to do.
I am willing to rebuild the database with a fresh install, but Plex will also not uninstall from the NAS. When I try, the admin page shuts and reloads asking again for login. I tried uninstalling another app, and it succeeded as designed.

So I can’t get it to run. I can’t get it off the server. What do I do.

Unfortunately, this has been a known issue for months. No version of PMS can be stopped or uninstalled from a ReadyNAS 212/214. Perhaps this impacts other RN models as well, I can’t say. I’ve been tracking this issue since it was first reported and there has been nothing from the devs at all.

If you look through the forums, you can find some links to version 1.14 of PMS, which is the last version that worked properly. Install that over the version you are running and then you can start/stop/uninstall as normal.

Found it, now trying to get it to work. Thanks.

EDIT: Nope. Successfully installed 1.14.1.5488 over the 1.6 version. Plex Media Server (for RN2xx) failed to turn on. (no error message, just warning).

Unfortunately I think you will need to totally remove PS 1.16 before installing 1.14 as they are different formats. You will need to logout of your Plex account first then manually delete the plexmediaserver folder under data on your readyNAS RN212 using SSH.
I have an RN212 and that’s what I had to do. Manually deleting the plexmediaserver is a long and boring process because.you can’t stop or uninstall 1.16 so you delete as much as you can then reboot the readyNAS and try again until finally you can delete the whole folder. Then you can install 1.14 and it should work perfectly.

Unbelievably, what seems to have worked is using the ReadyNAS app page and installing Plex from there - version 1.11
Now it’s rebuilding the data so fingers crossed.

Keep us informed

Completely worked. No issues. No uninstall required. I guess the solution is good until the “App Store” that comes with RN is refreshed. 1.11 was a while ago.

Glad it worked and good to know we have a fallback if necessary. PMS 1.14.1.5488 works great for me on my RN212 and I have no intention of upgrading anything.
BTW what version firmware is your RN212 running?

Firmware on NAS is current 6.10.1

I think your original problem has previously been reported with the new 6.10.1 firmware which is why I never updated from the older 6.9.5 (hotfix 1).
Do you find the older PMS 1.11 is missing any of the features of the later versions of PMS?

I’m sure it must, but I(we) have not yet found anything missing in 1.11 that my household’s usage style has noticed.

Good to know. Thanks
