Roku buffering constantly

I was about to report that downgrading to 1.6.1 solved all my problems. It has for the most part, except: If I watch a recorded show through the Roku Plex channel, it buffers constantly. Watching through an Amazon Fire device (doesn’t matter TV or Stick), no buffering at all – maybe a single stutter, and the ever-present interlace-like artifacts. Luckily I have Amazon devices on all my TVs - Roku’s on two of the three as well (don’t ask). Has anyone else experienced this with 1.6.1? Can’t talk about 1.7.x because it had too many buffering/lockup/restart issues with both the device families.

When viewing a TV show recorded on the Plex DVR, what is being streamed to the playback device? Pardon the simplistic question, but I’m trying to understand what the Roku doesn’t like about what it is being fed and why it has to buffer constantly. The Amazon devices seem to digest the stream without a single buffering event. The HDHR Extend is transcoding to H.264 natively if this has anything to do with it AND I’ve downgraded to 1.6.1 running on Synology.

I’d like to bring this to the Roku forums, but I have to sound like I actually know something.
