I am developing a couple of channels for Plex and I am testing across a few clients. I have noticed the following behaviour ONLY on the Roku client …
When i load my channel and select a media item from, the Roku client retrieves relatively quickly and I can see the video play. Everything is fine … When I go to load a 2nd item … it takes up to 3 minutes to retrieve. ALl subsequent efforts result in the same lonf time to load … I can see the transcoding has started on the the PMS and the segments being requested and returned but still the Roku is “Retrieving”.
Then … if I load a video form the YouTube channel (for example) and go back to my channel I get the expected (quick) behaviour. Namely, the video is retrieved quickly and I can view it. Again though this only happens on the first try … all subsequent efforts again result in very long retrieval times … Everything looks normal in the PMS logs …
Obviously other channels (YouTube, Vimeo) are not having the same problem and I have looked through their code to see where I am going wrong … I cannot find anything in the info.plist or the python code to indicate it …
This is happening on two channels I am working on … one is transcoding Flash using a Site Config … the other is using RTMP …
It all works fine on my Android clients …
Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to fix it ?
