@Mike-E We had the response from Roku. It was not a crash of the Plex for Roku channel but it was force closed by Roku operating system because of low memory
Work has already started by our Roku app development team to address memory use and lowering the channel’s memory use.
I will let you know once the work is completed and released.
Good to see there is a possible path to troubleshooting with the memory issues that sometimes arise. I too see crashes, especially with LiveTV on the Roku.
@sa2000 It crashed tonight (and I set the remote logging on the app just before), I reboot the entire Roku this time (which happens about 50% of the time instead of going back to the main Roku screen), when trying to watch LiveTV on delay (i.e. start from the beginning). Attached are the logs and screenshot for Roku info.
The Plex channel on my Roku Ultra now crashes when trying to go to Live TV. Plus while watching videos fast forward, rewind and resuming where I left off no longer works. This just recently started so I’m assuming it was the latest update.
Roku have confirmed that the crash was related to running out of memory
An update: The Plex Roku app development team is continuing to work on eliminating memory leaks and reducing memory usage. Changes made so far have now been released in the latest Preview Plex app - 7.0.25 - see release note:
Fix many memory leaks causing various crashes.
Work is continuing in addressing DVR Live TV specific memory issues - but the general fixes throughout the app in the preview release should have an impact
Looking at the Plex app on my Roku Ultra, load time has shortened considerably —I have a thread open that talked about the glacial start up of the app. I’m assuming that was due to memory issues on the Roku (my Ultra has a 32Gb card installed, but I don’t know what good it does.)
