Hi, I am so frustrated with this, I even recently upgraded my Roku device but I am still having the same issue. This only happens in my Roku and when trying to play the same file from my iPhone.
It won’t happen with my dire sticks, Apple TV or nausea but Roku is our main streaming devise in our living room.
I guess the Roku player cannot direct-play HEVC video content. And your Plex-media-server must not be strong enough to transcode HEVC files to x.264 in real time.
I think is Roku and not my server (wd my cloud ultra x2) since I can play those files using all my other devices.
My Rokus local and remote can Direct Play HEVC:
There must be something about your files your Roku doesn’t like.
(You do know that AAC audio gets an instant remux - due to a bug in the Roku OS - I don’t have any AAC Audio, and I sure don’t have any AAC 5.1 audio)
It also doesn’t have anything to do with MKV files.
They number in the 10s of thousands around here.
