Running PMS in the official docker on a ubuntu server.
For some time I’ve been battling the sound skipping on my Roku Ultra, both wifi and directly connected to the ethernet jack. Tonight, while watching Rudolph, the sound skipped multiple times - only for a half second or so and enough to be very annoying. It seems random. The only time I can make it happen is when it first loads, about 5 - 10 seconds into the start of playback.
A check of Tautulli shows it as a direct play using bandwidth of 20.4 Mbps both on wifi and direct play - no transcoding. Both skipped. When I force the quality down to 12 Mbps within the Roku Plex app and force the server to transcode, the skipping seems to stop. The original content as per the Roku Plex GUI shows as 12.1 Mbps.
I guess I don’t even know what the proper question to ask is. Why when both wiki and LAN direct play with no transcoding does the sound skip but when I force the server to transcode, nothing skips. Why does the Roku GUI show 12.1 Mbps as the original quality but Tautulli shows it streaming at 20.4 Mbps? When I force it to transcode at 12 Mpbs, Tautulli shows 12Mbps as well.
Any help or insight is appreciated.
