Roku direct streams 720p mpeg (recorded using Plex DVR) streams, but transcodes 1080i streams. The video & audio quality suffer quite a bit.

The video and audio quality used to be fine till sometime recently.

Please help.

Plagiarizing myself from another post:

“I’m on version 7.13.9 on my Roku Premiere (4620). In that version, in Settings → Video, there’s an option “Experimental 1080p MPEG2.” Enabling that allowed 1080i MPEG2 to be direct-streamed (no transcoding) in my environment. Maybe give that a try on yours? (Without it enabled I see the same behavior as you describe.)”

Thank you. I’ve set that option and it is working. It sometimes stalls for a long time if I rewind/forward a bit too much at a time - like when trying to get past commercials, but otherwise, it is working.
Thanks.
