Roku v15 issues with Plex

The newest version of Roku Ultra, version 15, causes stuttering, glitching and pixelation in Plex when playing 1080p or higher resolution. Version 14.6 of Roku running Plex works just fine.

I have 2 Roku Ultra. One of them upgraded to 15 and started having problems. I took my other (version 14.6) and hooked it up where the problematic one was to make sure there weren’t any external issues (network cable and such) and it worked fine. So it appears to be that when running on version 15 the issue occurs.

I appear to have this same issue. I have all my videos in H.265 encoded with libx265 using CFR 18. It says it’s using direct play, but I get heavy pixelation often in any 1080p video. Also there is no wifi in the playback chain. It’s connected through wires and on the same LAN. I have double checked the videos on the source computer and they playback correctly there.

To me it looks like there is a layer of transcoding without enough bandwidth happening, even though it says it’s doing direct play.

It mentions problems with 4K, but possibly applies to 1080p as well. The Roku forum posts do not say the problems are only with 4K.
