Server Version#: 1.41.7.9799
Player Version#: Roku Ultra 7.36.14.10147-6754caeec-Plex
Hey All! So I just updated my plex server on Unraid 7.0.1 to the server version above and now I’m having a lot of playback issues on my Roku Ultra. If I have directplay enabled some files play, but a lot of them give me the error “playback has stopped due to multiple playback errors. please check connection and try again”. If I “Force Directplay” it seems to work fine, BUT it won’t play lossless audio of course. if I put it back to “auto” or just allow direct play it goes back to that error. I can play the same files just fine on my Android phone, the web app, plex windows player and plex HTPC players, only appear to be having issues with the Roku Ultra. I’ve also tried deleting the plex app, updating it, restarting the Roku, but still the same issue.
I’m trying to see if I can rollback to the previous version, I edited the docker from “latest” to “1.41.7.9795” and saved, but it doesn’t appear to actually roll it back and still shows 1.41.7.9799 under server version in the webplayer when I goto server settings. Any suggestions on possible fixes of this issue or a way to roll back the version if I’m doing something wrong. Thanks!
UPDATE: was able to downgrade to 1.41.6.9685-d301f511a and it fixed my playback issues so it appears the latest update is wonky with Roku player
instead of adding a version variable, try editing the repository itself to :
plexinc/pms-docker:1.41.6.9685-d301f511a
or
plexinc/pms-docker:1.41.5.9522-a96edc606
for example..
the other container managers like Linuxserver, Binhex, etc, are easier to roll back than the official plex docker as they dont try to pull the latest version on every startup.
@Faceman2k13 That worked great! I appreciate it! where do you find the full version like that? I looked in the changelog post and only saw the basic version such as " 1.41.6.9685". I know the very last version worked fine, and I was hoping to downgrade to that, just in case there are security fixes from the older versions and what not.
Also, I did downgrade to 1.41.6.9685-d301f511a and now the Roku is playing the issue files just fine, so hoping this post gets seen by staff.
Thank you again, I must have read the change log too fast and didn’t realize all the other versions were just beta releases and 1.41.6.9685 is the last “official” release. Thank you again for your help!
Im having the same issues, any files with AAC7.1 wont play on Roku TV. I rolled back to arch-plex:1.41.6.9685-1-01 and the issues are resolved, something in the new update broke AAC7.1 audio transcoding only on Roku devices.
@backs1de I updated to the newest plex server, did a few tests and it appears that the problems have been fixed - I didn’t get any errors on the Roku while testing a few different movies.
