Whatever happened to this?
If you register for an API key then go into the bundle folder and open __init__.py replace the api key on line one
RT_API_BASE = 'http://api.rottentomatoes.com/api/public/v1.0/%s?apikey=1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a1a%s'
Replace after apikey= but leave the %s' at the end. ie:
RT_API_BASE = 'http://api.rottentomatoes.com/api/public/v1.0/%s?apikey=2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b%s'
Seems to work like a treat.

Having so much trouble trying to edit and save my edits of the __init__.py file. can you give any tips on what to do to do that?

Hi!
I just noticed this thread. With the latest update on the Open Movie Database agent, the agent can now also pull the Tomatometer rating in.

Geez I am sorry I didn't realize that I hadn't posted my set up. I am running on a Windows Vista machine. I was able to find the Plug-ins folder no trouble, but to actually edit the init file is proving to be a problem. That, and I still don't see Rotten Tomatoes as a Media agent. "Installing" downloaded Channels has not been a great success of mine.
***Update, so in the new install of Vista, I somehow didn't have Admin rights, fixing that fixed the editing issue.
But, the downloaded Channels thing is still a bust.
2nd Update - on a Windows machine, go to your right hand corner icon and right-click Open Plug-ins Folder and drag/drop to that. Don't know why, but that worked.
So, a rescan of the media is in order for this rating to kick in, yes?
Did a rescan and I do see that the metadata content has changed (new posters, tidier writeups) but no reflection of the RT. I have it successfully installed, and I got myself an API key (then edited the init file), so what could I be missing here?
I'm wondering, do I have a misunderstanding on what I should be seeing? I was expecting to see the tomato icon (or squished green icon) and I am seeing a stars rating system instead. Which should I be seeing?
The star system is now a representation of the tomato system, so you are seeing the RT rating.

Ah, I see. To bad the tomato icon didn't port in to make that more obvious, but I really do appreciate your insight.
Im late to this party. I assume this is for Mac only and doesnt work on PC?
which leads to my second question, how do i get Rotten Tomatos on my PC- based Plex server? TMDB plot descriptions and ratings are terrible.

No, the Rotten Tomatoes agent is available for every Plex Media Server platform. This is a *very* old topic, that's why the first couple of posts talk about Mac only and have a Mac-only installer.

The Rotten Tomatoes agent is available through the Channel Directory. In Plex Web: Channels > Install channels > More... > Metadata Agents

is there a difference between the one downloaded from the channel directory and the one you have on github (under plexinc repositories)? I only ask because of the different naming convention- 'rotten tomatoes.bundle vs rottentamatoes.bundle

They are the same. The Channel Directory pulls from that Github repo.

good to know, thanks
I'm incredibly new to plex. How do I change IMDB rating to Rotten Tomatoes rating in the home theatre???
I’m going to assume this agent is dead. RT isn’t accepting any requests for an API key, and the agent itself doesn’t appear to be pulling in rating info no matter where I have it in my list of agents. Does anyone have this working at the moment?
The Rotten Tomatoes agent is dead?

Looking also for this. Would like to have RT ratings in my movies
