Run Plex on NVIDIA SHIELD internal but store metadata on external harddrive

My setup is like this:

I have NVIDIA SHIELD Pro TV with 16 GB internal storage. I attached an 8TB external HDD to the SHIELD as removeable storage.

I have all my media files on the external HDD and also moved PLEX storage location to the external HDD through the PLEX settings. I really want all the metadata together with the media on the external HDD. I set up SHIELD to power down USB when it’s in sleep as I don’t want the HDD runing when I’m not using SHIELD. Everytime I put SHIELD to sleep it turns off the HDD as instructed. But when I turn SHIELD back on, PMS is always stopped (because it’s on the HDD and that got turned off with SHIELD sleep) and I only get it to work again by restarting the whole SHIELD.

So, is there any way for me to have the PMS metadata on the HDD and PMS itself on SHIELD internal storage so it doesn’t lose power to the server files when SHIELD goes to sleep?

Or is it only possible to have both PMS serverfiles and metadata on the same drive?

Am I understanding this correctly? The option in PLEX to move storage location moves EVERYTHING regarding PLEX? That means, all the server executables aswell as all the library metadata files?

doesn’t seem to be a solution for this. and this looks like such an easy feature to implement. oh well. i got myself an usb stick to make as internal and now i have metadata there because 16gb internal storage for the shield is just meh
