Running two servers but can only access one

Server Version#: 1.25.6.5577
Player Version#:

Hi folks.

Since I’ve updated to this version on PMS I’m now only able to access one server.

I have two servers configured, one hosted on a synology NAS DS216+ii and one hosted on a windows 10 machine with an external HDD connected.

I cannot using the macos x app and previously had access to both servers, I now can only access the one hosted on the windows 10 machine.

I’ve stopped the windows 10 server and rebooted the NAS and can then access the NAS server, as soon as I start the Windows 10 server it removes the NAS one again, am I now only able to access one server with this new updated??

Did you copy the server data (all the metadata) from one to the other?

Hi Chuck,

They are completely separate severs with different content in them.

They were working fine until this most recent update

Servers don’t self-merge into one.

Something has changed.

You speak of using the Mac app to access them.

How is access using a normal web browser?

they haven’t merged into one.

when I am able to access the server on the NAS the content is there and entirely different to the one on the windows 10 machine. Which is correct.

If I web browser to the to the NAS drive without the Win10 server running I can see the NAS server, if I start the Win10 server and web browse to NAS again I can only see the Win10 server.

What is the Friendly Name of the servers ???
Are they accidentally named the same?

Win10 is called Films
NAS is called Media

Do you understand that you have two views; Pinned (Home) and expanded (MORE)?

You should be able to slide to the ‘MORE’ side and see something like mine where both servers are listed.

That used to happen, I would select more and both servers were there.

In the settings when I select the server name on the left side only one appears in the drop down saying nearby. Before this update both were available.

I have this exact same problem with the latest version of Plex (1.26.2.5797). I have a video server running on Synology and a music server running on my Raspberry Pi. Both are completely separate servers with different content and libraries.

If I restart one server, the other disappears from my Plex regardless where I access it from - including if I access Plex from the device containing the missing server itself. Both servers have different hostnames, IP addresses and contents.

For example, if my video Plex server is the one currently displaying content, my PlexAmp app will show the source as ??? because it can no longer find the music library on the Pi. I can even browse to the Plex web app on the Pi using the local IP but it will only show me the content from the Synology! Restarting the Plex media server on the Pi will then force the Plex web app to show the content on the Pi but will then no longer acknowledge that I have a server on my Synology and will only show the content on the Pi. The other server does not even appear in the drop down list on the settings page.

I have tried signing out of both devices and removing the servers from authorised devices and re-claiming them but this keeps happening. I can no longer have both my servers’ content appear at the same time.

Any suggestions on things to try? This is really frustrating!

Update: I’ve fixed this issue for now by deleting the Preferences.xml file on the Pi and re-claiming the server. Unsure if this is a permanent or temporary fix but for now at least I can play my music in PlexAmp :grinning:
