Two Synology plex servers but can only see one PMS

Dear All,

I have 2 Synology NAS with Plex installed.

They have different IP addresses but on my TV, i only see one PMS, may I know why?

Because your second NAS is apparently not signed into the same plex account as the first one. Or is not signed in at all.

Hi! OttoKemer,

I have checked, both are signed in with my same account.

You must look under Settings - Server - General
Make sure that your server name at the left side is different.

There is definitely only one server signed in to your plex.tv account.

Did you “clone” the Plex server installation from the first NAS to the second device? (by copying all files inside the Plex data folder?)

When I changed the server name for the first Plex server, the second server also adopted the same name but using a different IP address

Again:
Did you “clone” the Plex server installation from the first NAS to the second device? (by copying all files inside the Plex data folder?)

Hi! Ottokerner,

No I did not. Each of the NAS already has the package to install Plex. I just have to click download from the Synology “store” and then just install Plex.

I was not really asking about the Plex server program files, but about the Plex meta data. Which are stored separately.
But apparently you have installed Plex regularly on each device and haven’t copied anything between them.

Well, there is only one server signed into this here user account of yours.
Which means that the other server is either not signed into an account at all, or is signed into a different account.
Both situations are to be avoided, if you want to access both servers from the same client(s).

Hi!

I can confirm both are signed in to the same account

Ahh, now they are.

What kind of TV is it? I don’t see a TV device signed into your plex account.

I am saying that my TV will show the DLNA devices in my network.

It so far only shows one PMS and not the other.

So you are using DLNA? That is an important information.
Is the DLNA server activated on both NAS’s? It is disabled by default.
Settings - Server - DLNA

Hi! Ottokermen

It is enabled on both NAS but don’t why the TV only shows one PMS only.

Can you see both of your servers when you use a different DLNA client? You can try VLC for instance: videolan.org

Just to confirm if it is a quirk of your TV or whether the DLNA of the second Plex server is actually enabled.

Hi!

Sorry for the late reply.

I went into VLC, under Universal Plug & Play, I only see one PLEX server

Which means the DLNA server on one of your NAS devices is not working. Perhaps the firewall of the second NAS device is blocking it?

HI!

I have more than 2 NAS, I have opened the required Plex ports, but I cannot the same ports for the other NAS, using the same port numbers am i right?

Of course you can. The other NAS is a different device, with its own firewall.
Synology NAS’s have each their own firewall, like most NAS devices.

These ports need to be open on the actual device where the plex server is running, not on your router!
