I have been having an unusual problem for sometime now.
I have 2 plex servers, one is my Windows 10 PC and the other is a Synology NAS (DSM 7.0).
Although I’m not a 100% sure this problem started after I updated the NAS to DSM 7.0 and the plex stopped working on it. Had to reinstall it manually but thankfully it retained the metadata.
When plex server is running on my PC, my NAS server stops appearing on plex (not even searching). But this somehow affects only plex web (plex.tv) or if I run the plex web from the PC server or my Macbook app. But I can still access both PC and NAS server if I run plex from my NAS (or just enter the servers URL) which is understandable but I can access both the servers from my LG TV app and from my Android app as well which seems weird.
IF my PC server is off then my NAS sometimes appears on plex web but not every time i.e. even if I turn off my PC it doesn’t always help but when NAS appears on plex web its not even searching for the PC server.
My PC server randomly stops showing i.e it won’t crash but it just stops showing on plex web even if I run it from PC server and this is when the NAS starts appearing on all plex apps and web. But if I restart the server on PC then only the PC appears on plex web and Macbook but I can still access NAS directly from NAS, TV and Android app as I already mentioned.
Some other weird stuff I have noticed which is probably related is NAS server does not have the Secure icon and neither does it appear in the Authorized devices but the PC does and if I force stop remote access on NAS it starts showing the secure icon as well as Authorized devices. This is when both my PC and NAS appear on all interfaces but obviously I can’t access plex on NAS outside my network and this is what its meant for and if I re-enable remote access on the NAS still appears on all interfaces and even outside the network but the PC server stops appearing on Plex web (plex.tv), Plex from NAS as well as if I run plex through PC but still appears on TV and Android apps (not from outside network) and as I already mentioned above if I restart the server on PC then only the PC appears on plex web and Macbook but I can still access NAS directly from NAS, TV and Android app.
Also I cannot share my libraries with other users or friends from NAS till the NAS doesn’t have a secure icon though they do appear and randomly show the libraries I haven’t shared as well with other users (hopefully not with friends though I haven’t dared to ask).
Please let me know if anyone has faced a similar issue or knows any solution to my problem.
