Running Version 1.11.0.4666 - movies are now displaying the same title multiple times

Just noticed that the same movie now shows up multiple times and some are showing up extra as a group of films (all star trek grouped together into one button - which is cool, but others are still showing)

This is happening on my web version of plex, not on the plex server.

I’m seeing this behavior also, but it has only been with the Android app(both Fire tablet and Fire TV).

Only Plex Web and the Android app supports the new collection feature (for now). That is most likely what you guys are seeing. Check this FAQ https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/301312/working-with-inline-collections#latest

Thanks for the information on this. I disabled collections in my Movies library and it now shows one entry per movie. I prefer that for now but will dig deeper into the collection feature later.

Screenshots and version information would be very helpful.

We can use your observations and add them to the QA testing procedures if not already on it.

I think what they mean is that with the automatic collections from the movie database, lots of movies are added to a one movie category. Example:

Of course that is one of the “prettier” examples. Most of my list looks like this now:

I also noticed this behavior tonight after updating to version 1.11.0.4666-fc63598ba
I’ve attached a screen shot of what my actual server displays vs. what I am seeing on my desktop pc. Multiple duplicates and collections. Please note that I do have the “Collections” option turned off.
The screen on the right is showing roughly 150 extra movies.

It would be great to have a setting where Collections are displayed only when, for example, more than 1 movie exists within the collection. Or even better, make that threshold selectable as well (I personally would rather only see collections when there are 3 or more within the set).

Is anyone able to get movie posters and backgrounds to show up when editting the Collection metadata? Having to do it manually at the moment

Some of my collections are empty, no poster, no background and no movies included. Only the Collectionname is listed, they also couldn’t be found via SEARCH or when setting filters they are also not listed you can only see them at the movie overview at PlexWeb or Android TV Plex on Nvidia Shield at the Movieoverview.

As it seems there is a problem with Collections that are named different in german as the original in english.

I can delete the empty group and now the listing is fine, but this is for nearly all collections.

I also can’t find any tags at the movies where this could be created.
I could fix it for the moment with manual removing but with the next metadata reload they maybe recreated.

Or is getting the Movie Collection scrapper the information from the .nfo Files listed with the Moviefile?

I have the same problem with empty collections (all English library here). What is worse, there seems no way to delete them. This is just a sample of what my collections page looks like… yeah… not pretty. I’m really excited about collections, hoping for a quick fix

I can edit for example the movie “The Sand Pebbles” (listed in a collection named “11088386_SAND_PEBBLES”), but if I don’t lock the Category (ruling out all future enhancements), if I refresh the movie’s metadata the category is just added back.

Looking at the Movie DB, the movie is not even listed with a category: The Sand Pebbles (1966) — The Movie Database (TMDB)

So I’m with the previous person - where do these collections come from? As far as I can see there is no such information in the file itself, and I have no .nfo files.

Another edit: after some thinking, I disabled “Local Assets” altogether in the agent settings (I had dragged it down below The Movie DB previously), and now a refresh removes the weird collection, leaving me with an empty collection.

If that is the answer, I don’t mind refreshing the entire collection once more - however, how do I remove empty collections?

What you are seeing are known bugs with Collections.

Two major fixes, which complete the needed functionality, are already in testing for this.

I tested one of them yesterday. Using the existing deployed software shows the same issues seen here. Testing with the upcoming corrections/changes addresses the issues I am seeing here.

I ask your patience for the next few days as staff returns from the holiday and we get back to the full complement of team memberys

Thanks @ChuckPA - I don’t think I’ve been this happy with a new Plex feature in years - I can wait a day - or two, or five

The automatic addition of collection is quite abysmal, and has been for as long as I’ve been around. Remember though that this feature is not enabled by default when you create a Movie library. It was previously “hidden” by the fact that you needed to go to Movies and filter out collections to see them (and all the manually added). This has taken quite a few by surprise when the restructure of the collection feature was done and now it is more visible how poor it performs. I am not sure if the automatic collection will in itself be better, I think that what will be added in the nearest future are better ways of hiding them again.

My best suggestion would be to turn off the automatic collecttion feature, remove all existing collections (this is also something that will be fixed, for now you need to enable media deletion) and create your own collections manually.
