Why is this happening, dual titles but not duplicates or it shows collections...

Just noticed this last night. In my cinema section, itll show the same movie multiple times, one has the movie title and one is titled movie.

it appears you installed the latest beta version of PMS (v1.11.xxx). This version activates a new mode of how Plex displays collections (for now only if you access Plex Web via https://app.plex.tv/desktop).

You can see this e.g. as 1 of those entries has the year below the title (that’s the actual movie), while the second entry shows a number of movies (that’s the collection).

There’s 2 nice summaries on how to display collections inline with your movies:

Short summary:

  • if you don’t want to see collections inline with your movies… go to the settings of this movie library and deactivate (Edit > Advanced > Collections → option 1: deactivate).
  • if you haven’t edited/created those collections yourself (e.g. when editing a movie and adding a collection tag), there’s 2 scenarios which make Plex create those automatically for you…
  1. editing the library settings, advanced, uncheck Use collection info from The Movie Database
  2. check if you have activated Plex to use embedded metadata – if you have MP4/M4V videos with an Album tag, this will be used as Collection in Plex
