No real issue here but I wanted to let prospective server builder know that under windows 10 (pro) it seems unlimited hw transcodes are possible with the Ryzen 3 2200g. It even works with h265. This makes it a beast for a Plex server needing a lot of transcoding for an insane value. 95 euros for 5+ transcodes simultaneously is crazy.
Proof:
I hear what you are saying and I see the data you have presented, however, I have and use a Ryzen 5 2400G and while agree that it doesn’t hammer the CPU utilization, the quality when streaming and transforming 2 or more movies simultaneously is pretty awful.
Maybe my movies are higher bitrates or my (Comcast) upload speeds are lower than yours, etc. but I feel the performance doesn’t come close to what I would excellent or great - I rate it’s performance as good.
I have owned AMD CPUs and APUs for the better part of 2 decades and am one of their loudest supporters, but this APU generation (2000) is not up to the dynamic and sometimes high performance required for transforming - - using Plex as its server.
That said, I have tremendous performance using my 2400G with other 3rd party HW transcoders such as A’s Video Converter.
Plex’s reliance of FFMPEG is an advantage for Intel and Nvidia HW, but is a liability for any and all AMD HW transcoding using Plex.
Just my 2 cents.
(sorry AMD, I love you anyway, but I am disappointed in this APU generation)
Ps. I am ordering the R3 2200G for my desktop pc.
