Anyone knows why only a few trailers are being shown over and over, even though I have several hundres of local trailers stored along the movie. They are all named Trailer-trailer.xxx.
No I have it set to All movies.
I had all local trailers named as Trailer.xxx before and first recently renmaed them to the correct syntax.
Is it maybe necassary to refresh anything? Without doing anything they show up in Plex immediately.
Verify that the trailers actually appear on their respective main movie pages.
In the web app, it is actually this icon
You may have to Refresh Metadata on the whole library, so these ‘Local Assets’ are recognized by Plex.
They do show up on the main movie pages.
But if it is necessary to refresh the whole library how come that some trailers show without this procedure? They also show up immetiately as trailer when I rename to the correct syntax.
Going to the preplay screen of a movie will trigger a search for local assets, like trailers, extras and external subtitles.
But only for this one movie and not for all of them.
Okay, so local trailers from the movies I entered the preplay screen for should be used for premovie trailer playback?
Plex will restrict it’s selection of trailers to those, which have a fitting “age rating”.
To prevent a trailer for a horror movie to be played in front of a “family entertainment” movie.
So you need a rather large pool of movie trailers, in order to have enough diversity and prevent frequent re-occurences of trailers.
Refresh Metadata for the whole library, in order to recognize all trailers.
Is there somehow to change this “age rating” setting so that all available trailers are considered no matter what type of main movie is chosen?
Sorry, no.
Okay. Thanks for your help.
I will try out to refresh all metadata and see what happens.
I will let you know.
I have now tried to refresh all metadata and it indeed seems that more trailers are recognized now.
Anyway after updating many of the movie posters have changed to are more “complex” look with more text like actors and so on. It was much better with a more simplified look before.
I can also see that some of the posters are in like russian or similiar and much more languages are shown when I show all posters available.
I have tried to adjust some settings for the agents but I can´t get the “old” look back.
Can something be done?
Different issue: Incorrect language movie posters / actor cast issues
Okay thanks.
Is it possible to refresh metadata just to recognize the trailers without refreshing posters?
Sorry, no.
Okay. I made a copy of the library file on my Synology before refreshing.
I guess I can replace the actual file with that backup, and by that get all the old posters back.
I have now tried to replace the library folder on my Synology with the one I exported before refreshing all metadata. But I see that alot of the movies have no posters and they refresh with the new posters.
I thought that this library contained ALL metadata and movieinfo so all posters where available without refreshing.
Am I doing something wrong?
What are you considering as “the library”?
The posters are not stored in the SQLite database file com.plexapp.plugins.library.db
The library contains following on the Synology NAS. Are posters not located here?
They are in there. However, depending on what tools you used to backup and restore this folder, the poster assignments could have been lost. They are stored in so-called symbolic links.
These don’t survive if you copy the folder with Windows file manager or use the ZIP format.
You can only preserve them if you use the tar
command – directly on the NAS, in a terminal window.
