Server Version: Versie 4.49.2 (Synology; linuxserver/plex:latest)
Player Version: Not applicable
When I put a local trailer/extra movie file in the same folder as the movie; Plex seems to start scan (as I see the icon on the poster turning); but extra trailer reel icon doesn’t show up.
Trailer name in line with agreed naming: as filename+[-trailer].
I have the option:
autoscan library on changed files turned on;
Scan every 12 hours.
In all cases, the reel-icon doesn’t show automaticly.
But now the interesting part;
When I then choose: Renew/refresh all metadata on a library level (all posters, meta text is updated); but extra/trailer reel still doesn’t show up.
Only when I open the specific move detail and choose ‘refresh metadata’ on that specific individual movie the scanner picks up the extra and shows the trailer icon.
Same pattern, when removing. If I remove the ‘-trailer.’ file, plex still keeps the trailer icon, even after a library refresh. It again requires a ‘meta data refresh from teh individual file’ to have plex notice the trailer/extra fille is removed and the reel icon removes.
So it seems the full library scan (automatic) or manual do not include the updating the of extra/trailer files.
But an individual movie metadata refresh does identify these changes.
Request:: Can the library refresh routine also include the extra/trailer updates (as correctly handled in the individual meta data update request)?
Bump I have a very similar problem but running plex in docker container on my synology. I just created a new post before I saw this, although you have not received any answers. Have you solved this?
Hi. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Im also running it in a docker on synology and havent found a solution.
Only manual individual movie metadata tefresh works. The library rerfresh or schefuledvrefresh do.not work.
I also tried via the cli ( plex media scann er) to refresh individual movie, but same results. Everything updates except the local trailer icon.
I tried to click on the three dots next to the library and clicked “Manage Library -> refresh all metadata”. This works for me. My problem is that I even have to do this…
