I have one movie in my library that is showing up 3 times. It is the same movie, but there is only one of said movie in library. I tried looking up online but only found answers pertaining to Collections.
How many movie libraries do you have? if you have more than one movie library but also have the same folders setup on more than one movie library, the movie will show up multiple times across all 3 or whatever many you have. If it’s none of that, then do the Plex Dance where you temporarily move the movie file .mkv or whatever you have out of the movie folder into somewhere else that Plex does not scan. Scan the movie library, let it delete the movie from the database, clean the trash and then insert the file back in. Scan the movie library again and with fingers crossed, it should only show up once.
Thank you. I was able to take care of it using the “Plex Dance”
I have a similar question, same symptoms. It might take an enhancement request to make this change.
I have multiple libraries, each for a different focus. For example I have “Kids Movies”, “Animated Movies”, “Disney Movies”, Etc, and I place movies in folders specific to their type, then point the library at the appropriate folders. In this case I have folders for Disney with sub folders for “Cartoons”, LiveAction", and “AdultFocused”. “Pirates of the Caribbean” would be in the “Adult Focused” Disney subfolder and only show up in “Disney Movies” library of the above mentioned libraries, but “Aladdin” would be in the “Cartoons” Disney sub folder and therefore would show up in all three of the above mentioned libraries.
In the Plex interface, three Icons for Aladdin show up. None of the icons indicate which of the libraries are being referenced, all three icons show the same progress on a partially watched movie, marking one as watched marks all instances of that movie as watched, and updating the metadata on any one of them changes the icons and updates the metadata on all three if doing a metadata refresh.
Is there any way to have Plex combine icons in “Recently Added Movies”, “Continue Watching”, and other similar amalgamated places if multiple libraries are referencing the same file?
Similarly, I have “Comic Book Movies”, “Marvel Movies”, “MCU Movies”, and “3D Movies”. I have “Doctor Strange” in both regular and 3D versions. This means I see 4 icons that are all indistinguishable for “Doctor Strange”. I would like to be able to tell if I am watching the 3D file or the Regular file, however if watching the regular file I do not need to see 3 icons for the same file, only one icon for the regular file and then one icon for the 3D file, regardless of how many libraries reference said file.
Finally, if I drill down into a specific library, I want to see all of the icons for that specific group of movies. So if I drill into MCU I want to see the icon for the normal version of “Dr Strange”. If I drill into DC movies I want to see the icon for “Wonder Woman” and not the icon for “Dr Strange”.
If i drill into Comic Book Movies I want to see the icons for both.
Any chance for an enhancement to the effect of the above parameters?
rgraville,
That is exactly what is happening. Don’t know why. I assuming that something happen with the last update? Please Plex fix this problem.
thank you.
