Same Movies Trailer Plays Before Any Movie

Ok so I have just set up Plex maybe a month or so ago, I have since ripped 300 or so movies taking care to rip and name the extras correctly, including trailers. I have set my apps to play 2 trailers before the movies plus a pre-roll. The Pre-Roll seems to work great but the same trailer from the same movie plays all the time and I know it’s not the trailers themselves because if I put another trailer in that same folder then that trailer will play, it is very frustrating because I have spent a lot of time getting the DVD content just so and really liked the trailer option and wanted it to really set the experience.

The only movie a trailer will play for is the movie “Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin The Untold Story (2005)” any trailer I put in this folder will play, so I know it’s not the files themselves and if I set to only play unwatched trailers and mark this as “watched” then no trailers play at all, no matter what I do. I have tried the plex dance and even deleting that movie and it’s folder and reapplying it. When I deleted it no trailers played at all and when I put it back the one trailer then would play again. I am at a loss with that else to do and it is extremely frustrating.

Also I’d like to add that I have shared a few libraries with friends and when I use THEIR servers with my settings I DO get 2 random trailers from their collections, so I am fairly sure it is not my settings that are the issue.

Are you using your admin account to test the trailer functionality or are you using a managed user, who has restrictions set on his account?

Which age classification has this Family Guy movie (in Plex)?
Which age classifications do have the other movies which you used to test the trailers?

Yes I only have the one account right now, so it is the admin account.

And it does only play when appropriate, it’s R rated, for instance with Deadpool or Deadpool 2 or other PG-13 or R rated movies, it doesn’t play with kids movies or anything like that but just nothing does.

And how many other R-rated movies have trailers in your library, right now?
(Unplayed ones, if you have set the option to show only trailers for unplayed movies)

I have 41 other R-Rated movies and all of them with trailers that I can see in plex when I click on the movie as I check each one when I make it.

Please take a look into the Plex XML info
of both the Family Guy movie and a few other movies which do have trailers but never show them.

Look out for the contentRating="xxx" attribute.
Do both movies have identical content between the quotation marks or different?

Are the trailers categorized as -trailer or something else, like -featurette or -scene ?

Sorry for the delay work got in the way, so the Family Guy movie is rated “NR”, and it plays with other NR movies but I have trailers with PG and PG-13 Rating and movies with those ratings and, those movies have trailers. Also yes I researched the DVD content and am naming it correctly including the trailers. Only when I play other “NR” movies, I get the Family Guy Trailer and that’s it, no other rating gets them. When I watch from OTHER servers I am getting them so it has to be something with my server but idk what it could be.

What do you mean by that?

So I have my plex server and have linked it to many others, so if I choose someone else’s plex server their trailers they have loaded will play based on my settings in my app.

This is intended, AFAIK.
NR could be anything, that’s why you will see NR rated trailers only before NR movies.

No I get that but I have lots of NR trailers and trailers for PG/PG-13/R etc and I never see them and on NR movies I ONLY ever see the Family guy trailer, even though there are several others. If it would help at all I can give you my plex username and you can add me and see what I mean possibly? Other users that connect to my server report the same issue, they see the one trailer I have in my Family Guy movie (I have put different ones in there to see if it made a difference) and it only plays the one in that movie when appropriate and no other ratings will play any trailers even though almost every movie I have has a trailer in it.
