Same name program. Different episodes

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764

Hi all I have a bit of an issue I can’t find a way around. I’ve got a TV program of which there are 2 versions, specifically Top Gear, where I have, for example, season 13 of Top Gear from 1980 something and Season 13 from 2009.

These series are kept in separate folders on my drive, Top gear and Old top gear. However Plex groups them so that Top Gear season 13 episode 1 has 2 versions and so does episode 2, 3 etc.

Is there a way I can stop Plex grouping them like this and show them as 2 different episodes so that I can manually update the metadata?

They are two different BBC series years.

[chuck@lizum debian.506]$ echo /vie/tv*/Top*
/vie/tv2/Top Gear
/vie/tv2/Top Gear (2002)
[chuck@lizum debian.507]$

Distinguish between the two this way.

There are many Top Gear shows. Make sure you use the correct name, as listed in thetvdb.com (Search - TheTVDB.com).

Make sure you follow the correct naming and structure. Plex is very picky about TV shows. See documentation linked below.

It also helps to add the year to the show name. Use the year the show first debuted, not the year of the season.

When adding the shows to Plex, since they are so close, add them separately. This may keep Plex from trying to combine the shows.

After renaming, perform the Plex Dance for the entire show, not just the episodes.
