Not sure if this is the right spot to post this or not. My server is running on a Windows 8.1 box with trailers enabled. Love the feature, but we’ve noticed it always seems to play the same 6-10 trailers over and over again. I have local trailers saved with my movies that seem to get pulled in but the ones coming from the web don’t change.
Is there something that logs that a trailer is watched so it doesn’t get pulled again? Most of my playback is done on a AFTV.
This is a long known issue. Most people have just given up on this feature or have changed the settings to only show trailers for movies already in your library. This last option is kind of cool because it can “re-introduce” you to many movies you may have forgotten about that you already have.
Good to know I’m not the only one experiencing it, but disappointing there isn’t a fix for this. It was one of the most missed features I had after moving to Plex from XBMC. When using Emby the last few weeks due to the Plex not working on my AFTV I got used to having the feature again.
Is there any talk of fixing the trailers since this is something we gain by having Plex Pass?
Agreed. Very annoying and it would be wonderful if some further work could be done on this. It helps provide the whole theater experience when watching movies at home.
Same experience here and we are nearing 2017. I fear I will hurt myself if I ever see the Kubo and the two strings trailer again or the “little men” trailer (…“Hello Mrs. Caravelli”…). The addition of trailers was a really cool feature of Plex, but the way it is implemented now renders it quite useless, I’m afraid.
Could a Plex official shed some light on this. Please tell me you guys are still working on this.
We’re now into 2017 without any official word. Watched 8 trailers yesterday, Little Men twice and I am Legend 4 times. Ugh.
Have noticed this as well. Bit of a pity. Surely it’s just a case of having a better random trailer generator? I have the setting “Choose Cinema Trailers from Only unwatched Movies”. Running PMS on Linux, not that I suspect that makes much difference here.
Any chance the Plex devs can look at this? I’ve noticed the same issue.

Glad I am not the only one. I get the same issue if I select upcoming, new releases, or only my library. It will just pick two and play them over and over again
2018, still an issue, and I’ve seen this Life of the Party trailer like 9 times…
Was this ever fixed? I’m gonna kill that Poppins ■■■■■ if I see her one more time.
