samsung bluray player

Hi I new to plex as of today. I have plex set up through my pc, and I have a Samsung j7500 bluray player which I am trying to get plex to read the usb drive on the bluray player without streaming. Is that something that plex can do?

Plex can read that drive if and only if it can be accessed as a drive or a network path on the computer where Plex is running.

Ok, so plex doesn’t do local storage on a bluray player? If I understand you, I must install the usb drive on my pc and stream to the bluray player. Well I guess Plex just isn’t for me.

Yup, but the benefit of Plex on the PC is that it can also stream to other computers, your smartphones, tables, mom and dad, and plenty in between.

The Plex client is not a generic media player for playing content from anywhere. It’s a client for the Plex client/server architecture… the Plex client connects to a Plex server and it is on this server where you have the media you wish to play
