Samsung Player has Issues after New Server Build

All devices work for me flawlessly, however a few family members have Samsung TV’s.
Always worked great on them all.
But recently, after a server rebuild, the samsung tv’s are now struggling to play anything…
Constantly buffering…

Playing anything, on literally anything else, works fine… direct or transcoding…
At a loss as to why…

But recently, after a server rebuild (…)

Do you rebuild your server? How, exactly? Just reinstalled or migrate from OS, for example?

Hardware rebuild. Nothing remained the same, even a new server was added.

But testing on all devices (samsung mobile, laptop, philips tv, android tv)
working better than before on these, as expected…

Minus on older samsung tv’s…
Suggested turning direct play off, seems to be helping so far.

I try to avoid transcoding as hell, because I understand that the players should be able to play my MKVs and MP4s directly. Only 4K is understandable to be transcoded in certain scenarios.

But I’ll try your advice.

Thanks.

Sure its not the plex tv client causing this ?

I guess it is… but anyway…

What’s the difference between “Direct Play” and “Direct Stream”?

Direct play is 100% compatible and just plays the file as if it were actually on the device.
Direct Stream means is it can play a h264, ac3 file as an example but the container ie mkv, avi it can’t so Plex repackages it in realtime, no recoding etc.

Well, I disabled Direct Play, and the load on the server seems imperceptible. Everything running smoothly until now…

Yesterday the same video stopped with “transcoding error” around 4 or 5 times in less than one hour.
