Playback error on Some videos Samsung TV 2021 QN95A

Plex for Samsung TV does not direct play some videos on Plex on my 2021 Samsung 65QN95A while others play fine. Optimizing or transcoding the video also works. If i disable Direct play and use direct stream instead it also works with no transcode.
I’m getting a “Playback Error: An Unexpected playback problem occurred”. I’ve tried all the usual setting the connections to unsecured etc.
I can copy the same video file to USB and plug it in to the TV and it will play fine directly on the TV internal USB media player.
TV is on wired gigabit ethernet

I also have a Samsung UE55MU7000 with Plex For Samsung 5.34.1 Platform version 3, the content plays fine on this

Is this TV local to the server? When playing something can you check the dashboard on your server to see if it thinks it is remote rather than local.

I see a generic unsupported file type error while buffering Sing 2. which is odd since it seems to continue to buffer after that

Yes it’s local all on the same gigabit ethernet network and shows local from the TV. It appears on the dashboard for less than a second when I try to play it.

he same problem, on the old TV from 2016 there was no problem, New QLED TV QE55QN95AAT and some movies not working, “Playback error”, restoring plex to factory settings did not help.

@BigWheel This seems to be partially resolved for me now, it will automatically disable direct play and only use direct stream for affected videos. What is the reason that a file will only play with direct stream and not direct play? Surely it should play the same? Especially if it also plays on older tizen OS versions?

Uninstall and install the app (don’t use reinstall). That fixed the playback error for me. Maybe logging out and login back in could fix it too. I didn’t try it.

The new update broke something.

I have the same problem on two seperate Samsung TVs. 3rd one (old one) works (havent updated the app on that one yet). Works on my Sony TV, PS5, laptops, phones everywhere. TVs are local on the network with one of them actually connected via ethernet same as the NAS server (QNAP BTW). Tried all the usual… uninstalling, resetting the TV, disabling direct play and/or direct stream.

Its just funny to see plex officially is not answering to any of these posts hoping people will just rant and shut up.
