Samsung TV Plex App no longer connects to working Plex Server

Server Version#: 1.24.5.5173
Player Version#: 2.012

Have a Samsung Smart Hub plex setup which has worked fine for years, but as of last night the Plex app on the tv no longer detects the working Plex Server on my QNAP NAS. I know the server is fine as I can access content on other devices on my LAN, it’s only the Samsung TV app that doesn’t see it. When I start the app on the TV, I just get the four dancing white spheres while it looks for the server and doesn’t find it.

Have run the networking troubleshooter on the Samsung TV itself, and it says networking is fine (I can use Netflix successfully on the same tv). Any ideas what’s changed in the last two days?

For me it starts, but I can’t connect anymore to Plex website from the tv,. Also 2.012…
I see the user now offline, can’t login anymore…
So I’m not only able to play local files, for me good enough, but remote access is down…

Make sure do disable secure connections on the app, if I enable it, I can’t access my local server anymore…

Whats your status right now?

Hi,
Same issue here. I try to reinstall the app and now I can not get access to the app anymore. There are no more 4 digit number to access the server. Any help from somebody?

Thanks

I have the same issue as cristian, i get a screen with no code !

Yes, something is going on , on Plex side, must be a change on login method…
Enable debug probably not going to help, not sure how we can investigate it

Well, I’ve given up… and bought an Amazon Fire stick which doesn’t have these problems accessing my server.

Why not use offline? Or do you need to access a remote pms?

I have the same problem, first the login with user list with pin numbers stopped working giving my children access to all the content which they shouldn’t. Now I cannot link the tv to plex as the code doesn’t generate.

I guess support has been dropped and a fire stick is required.

code linking doesnt work anymore, you need internet/remote access for that
only offline works, by adding the PMS by local IP address

make sure you whitelist the IP on the network settings page of your PMS server, otherwise it still doesnt work…

so yes, support is now past for old tv’s using orca, only offline method works, or install the proxy if you need access to remote servers

Foolishly I saw that my username was off-line in the Samsung App, and thought that by signing out and back in again would fix it. Now I can’t log back in to the app, can someone provide instructions on how to get the old Samsung client to work with my local servers?
I don’t suppose Orca is around/inclined to do a fix so the client can talk to Plex.tv again?

I’m OK now, I disabled the secure connections option in the System settings and switched off any options that linked back to Plex.tv and I can now see all my PMS’s and access them. All Good.

It’s not possible due to the hardware doesn’t support it

I got another Samsung tv for my kid and installed Plex app, but for some reason i cant see that linkind code? There is just 4 empty squares.

Go here: GitHub - kadrim/proxy4plex: Proxy Server for older Samsung Smart-TVs which only support TLS up to 1.1

This type of workaround is not easy to implement and we are entitled to expect a real solution from the developers.

  1. Your TV was never supported by Plex
  2. You are not using a Plex client, but a 3rd. Party Plex client
  3. The HW of your old TV can’t handle modern security, which is needed
  4. The Vendor of your TV stopped updating Firmware for it, leaving Plex without any chances here

And lastly, even though a PlexPass doesn’t matter here, you are in absolutely no situation to demand anything as a free ride!
