Plex player can't find server

Server Version#: 4.63.0
Player Version#: 2.012 PMS version 0.9.8.0
I’ve setup media server on desktop computer (Windows 10) and player on Smart TV Samsung UE55HU8500, made connect via plex.tv/link. But when I open Plex player - it does’nt see server: “This server is currently unavailable”. And native player on Smart TV see the plex server and play movies (but not play .mkv unfortunaly)!

From the version of the Plex for Samsung app, it appears this TV of yours is using a SmartHub and not the Tizen platform.
This app had been developed by a 3rd party user and is no longer supported. Therefore it’s been impacted by a change to the encrypted communication between server and client. The short of it is the app can no longer connect to your server securely.

Apparently there’s a few workarounds. The most basic one is to configure your server, disabling any secure communication (that’s probably not an option for everyone).

I have it working on an E-Series TV (2012)

What I did:

And when said, I strongly suggest you start to look for another player, like Apple TV, Shield etc.

What proxy4plex version should I download for H-series TV?

It’s not for the TV, but for a PC on the same network as your TV, so version should follow OS and platform of PC

All done, new app Plex with proxy can’t find server still…

And the proxy did install a new version of the Plex App ?
And that did ask you to link to your account?

1 - yes
2 - I’ve used “develop” as login/password

Strange, since your TV was last seen yesterday, and is also listed as version 2.012

New version provided by the proxy should be version 2.014

What does it report, if you in the Samsung App goes into Preferences/About Plex

2.014

And the proxy is still running, and firewall open on port 80 and 3000 ?

Yes, and firewall was switched off

TV App did time out, and then prompted for IP of PC running the proxy?

No, it’s started normally, but than “This server is currently unavailable”.

Try and remove the Plex App from the TV completely, power off afterwards, and do unplug the power cord.
Wait 2 min, power on again, and install the app from the proxy

I have a similar problem with newest Plex Windows app ( 1.25.5.5492) and Samsung Smart HUB “Plex for Samsung” app version 2.005. For every movie I try to play it puts this message on the screen:

“Can’t connect to the selected server or the content is no longer available”

Which is weird because it’s all there and on computer everything plays fine. I tried to reset the computer, TV, router, nothing worked. Whole base is displayed ok, nothing is missing, but there is nothing that can be played any more.

Before newer versions there were no problems with watching Plex on TV.

Is there a way to downgrade Plex version on the computer?

EDIT: I updated app on the TV and now all works ok!

now I don’t see this “You will see that the app cannot connect to plex.tv and a popup will show up”, app run normally

That’s very strange, since that’s what I saw, and also relayed directly from the Proxy Github Readme

If that doesn’t show, then I sadly can’t help anymore, since it’s not a Plex client, but a 3rd. Party client

All I then can suggest, is that you enter the server IP under manual server, and then on your PMS, allow IP of your TV to connect unauthenticated

PMS Settings/Network/List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth
