Sat>IP Tuner (Exip 414) not showing in web ui

Hi all, being granted access to community supported Tuners I’m now trying to Setup my Exip 414 with Plex DVR.

The Exip is listed as partially working and described as showing up immediately when initiating DVR Setup.
For me, however, the Setup is scanning endlessly with the tuner never showing up in the web ui.
Downloading the Plex Tuner Service log I see that the device is sucessfully detected…

PMS is running off my NAS: QNAP TS 459 Pro+, latest QTS 4.2
Plex Server Version 1.11.0.4666, Plex Client: Web App
Sat>IP Server: Kathrein Exip 414, Firmware: 0.5.12
Region: Germany

Other (software) Clients that successfully discover and stream from Exip:

  • Elgato Eye TV
  • DVBViewer Pro
  • DVBViewer - Android App

The “web_service_t::process_device_discovery”, shown in the log below, repeats every few seconds

This post forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1585675
is describing a similar symptom and mentions some Setting (“UnsupportedTuners”) that was activated to resolve the issue.
Unfortunately I’mm too blind to find such a Setting on Plex and neither did I see it mentioned anywhere else.

Did I really just miss a simple Setting somewhere?
Any other Suggestion as to why the Tuner is not properly discovered (showing in the web ui)?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried enabling debug output to see if the device manager is getting an error from the tuner after it discovers it?

I did enable verbose logging in Addition to Plex debug logs, but it didn’t Change the Output at all (I did restart PMS after enabling verbose logging).
“Enable Plex Media Server debug logging”
“Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging”
Settings from the “Server”-section of the WebApp; Logs downloaded from the Server using the download button of the web app.

…or are you refrerring to a different logging mechanism? Sorry, not an expert at all :-/

Ok, I had to manually enable debug logging in Preferences.xml.
Then, the tuner Service log doesn’t seem to do any debug logging but the main PMS log does.
I found that I don’t (yet) seem to have Access to the community supported Tuners:

From “Plex Media Server.log”
Jan 03, 2018 21:54:31.803 [0xeabffb90] DEBUG - DVR:Grabber: Ignoring (KATHREIN Sat>IP Server (192.168.178.24) - 0) which is an unsupported tuner device.

So, I guess I’ll be closing this question and get in contact with @kinoCharlino to get my Status confirmed.
Thanks @Matthew Wisch for reminding me of the debug logs.

@VanilleGrobi,

I responded to your PM and you should be set now. One note, SAT>IP is listed in one of this pinned post as not being entirely compatible, thus your mileage may vary with it even with community (unsupported) tuners enabled on your account.

Satellite – Currently we do not have Satellite support. It’s something we are investigating, but there are some issues we will need to overcome, so likely you will run into issues with Satellite.

for those stumbling across this thread…
For me Plex didn’t find any channels on my Exip.
The reason was that I had a version of DVBLogic DVBLink installed on my NAS. Those seem to be conflicting. After having uninstalled DVBLink channels were successfully scanned.

for those stumbling across this thread (II) and your log shows unsupported tuner device

a) verify your forum profile lists role “TunerTester”
b) go into your server - general settings - sign out > your server < and sign in again
