Seems like an old problem has come back again. I’m running pms 1.18.2.2029. Today is Saturday 11/16. There is a new episode of SNL airing tonight at 11:30 Eastern. My guide agrees:
Yep me too. Also missed last week. Fortunately can get it off nbc site. But this is annoying and part of the poor EPG quality. Hope they can negotiate a better supplier.
Yeah, I’ve tried toggling new/repeat, deleting the recording and refreshing my guide. No change. The SNL repeat at 10:00 offers to be recorded, but never the 11:30 new show.
[edit] also tried “limit to air time 11:29” and single (non series) recording. The new 11:30 show never appears in the schedule.
[edit2] also suspect the 10:00pm old, abridged repeat is part of the issue. For me, this is the first week of the season where a 10:00pm repeat appeared on the schedule and the first time my 11:30 new show disappeared. (FWIW, last week’s 11/09 11:30 show was a repeat)
Odd, seems kosher here, set to record new, guide and dvr schedule both show it as going to record. Also shows wrong episode as another poster mentioned.
That is correct. Guide data is incorrect. You can try to rename E5 to some other so it does not exist in the library and maybe it will pick it up. Plex has to find a better EPG supplier.
Yes, good catch @bartenjs. Some guides had last night’s episode as E5 when it should have been E6 of S45.
So, while the culprit was guide data and guide data needs to be better, that is not the right solution to this problem.
give us manual recording so we can work around guide errors.
Ignore duplicates when the new flag is set. A “new” SNL with redundant S45E05 should still have been recorded. I’d rather delete an extra than miss a new show.
Similar problem for me with last night’s show. I happened to be check in on the status a few minutes into the show and it was not recording.
I tried to do a manual record and it would not start.
The workaround was to manually record it in a different library than I usually do. I assume that tricked it to not see last night as an episode already in by library (due to the incorrect show data people have reported above. That worked for last night, but of course I had to be there to start it manually.
Next week’s is not showing up in the recording schedule, regardless of new/repeat setting or the library I set to record it to.
11/23 will be a new episode, Will Farrell hosting.
@sa2000 this is definitely something that needs looking into… the guide data has no episode specific information – part of the problem may be that there are several airings (most re-runs but one new) on 11/23 for example.
Good temp solution. Record in different library then move to real library. It’s a pain, but I recognize that managing the EPG data for each region/service is daunting. HW transcoding is the bigger issue (I know it is not part of this thread, but probably one of the most active issues right now).
I just updated my guide this morning (11/19). The 11/23 SNL is now correctly marked as New (starring Will Ferrell) and is scheduled to record. There is no SxxEyy information, but that’s fine. Thanks for the fix Plex!
Wow! Outstanding issue dragging for over a year. Plex team must not be USA based or they don’t use Plex… to explain why super popular show cannot be handled. If I was part of Plex team, I would automate report of anomaly/bug and statistic on what the user care about and handle them in priority.
I have Plex Version 1.18.2.2058 and I’m located in Massachusetts.
It’s very easy to find issues that impact this outside the Guide data.
For example, I edited the repeated recording many times of the same SNL show one after another (meaning all during the same 10 minutes period), and each time the options available about channel and hours are different! It’s unstable, also one time I choose an option, save, reload, and my option was not saved…
Also more issues, in the Guide when I end-up seeing it’s marked to be recorded, I go to DVD Schedule, and I can see it’s NOT going to be recorded. so this a bug but also a way to tell you in advance that Plex is not going to save your show in advance so you can use alternative like TIVO…
Agree. I recently sat down to watch the last four episodes of Modern Family (US - Cleveland, OH OTA) and the DVR recorded old episodes with the new episode descriptions. Uber annoying. The last show recorded seemed to be correct. I also had a bunch of SNL episodes record, but the guide data was off by a week for the episode. I feel as though the DVR was recording the proper episodes; but it was unable to catalog them properly after recording.
