Overall, I was pleased with the return of the Gracenote EPG. But one problem has returned with its return: New Saturday Night Live episode recordings at 10:30pm Central get goofed up because of confusion the repeat that NBC airs at 9:00pm. I could dig into the archive to find an old discussion about this, but I assume it will require a new solution.
So the DVR only recorded the repeat at 9:00 last night, and missed the Chalamet/Springsteen new episode last night.
Gracenote identifies the 9:00pm episode as a New Episode, so setting the recording instructions to “New Episodes Only” doesn’t help. The 10:30 new episode shows up in the DVR schedule, but won’t record.
The 9:00 episode is recorded, but the metadata identifies it as the 10:30 new episode. So imagine my disappointment when I thought the recording had worked only to start playback and discover the 9:00 repeat.
SNL is one of the few shows I record on a regular basis, so this is very disappointing. This time around I have access to the episode through Peacock, but I’m hoping to watch with the Plex ad skipper once this is resolved.
Other than this–which is a major bummer in relation to how I use the DVR–I’ve been pleased with the return of the Gracenote EPG. The metadata posters are now filled in even for local newscasts, for example, which had been a pet peeve for me.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.
